The lock cylinders are designed to get coded to your 1999-2013 Chevy/GMC truck's ignition key. To do that properly, the key needs to be firmly inserted into the cylinder completely. Then rotate the key very firmly without stopping until you come to a complete stop, reverse direction and turn key again until coming to a complete stop. Then rotate the key back and forth several times before removing key from the cylinder.
